Libby Chase

Libby has a Fine Art Degree in Studio Art from Plymouth State College and a Master of Science in Graphic Design from Pratt Institute.

Libby has been teaching drawing, illustration and graphic design classes for almost 8 years at McIntosh College, Dover, NH. She has also taught various workshops; clothed figure model, watercolor pencil & color pencil, pastel and still life set-ups with mixed media. She is currently teaching as an adjunct assistant professor at the New Hampshire Institute of Art.

Exploration of Pen & Ink Drawings

Love to draw lines, cross-hatch, and stipple or want to learn how then this workshop is for you!  This one day workshop will take you from sketches to a finished drawing render in black ink (Micron Pens).  Composition, use of line; hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, thick/thin line variation will be explored to create texture in value in your drawing.  Subjects covered range from still life to landscape or you may select your own.  Please bring in photographs that you would consider using as references.


Drawing and Painting with Pastel Pencils

In this one day workshop,the goal for each student is to explore various techniques using pastel pencils to create a base, then building rich vibrant color with additional layers of pastel pencils.  There will be demonstration/discussion of basic composition using the Elements of art and the Principles of organization.  We will emphasis use of color as one of the most emotional elements of art.
Please bring an 8 x 10 or larger photograph of an image to use as your reference.


Using Watercolor Pencils & color Pencils

Want to learn how to work with layering of vibrant colors in your artwork?  Then join us in this one day workshop.  The goal for each student is to explore various techniques using watercolor pencils and color pencils building up beautiful, rich tones and values.
Demonstration/discussion of basic composition using the Elements of Art and the Principles of organization.  Emphasis use of color as one of the most emotional elements of art.  Please bring in an 8 X 10 (or larger) photograph of an image you would like to recreate with watercolor pencils and color pencils.
