Image Coming Soon! Lisa picked up her first pastel about 4 years ago and fell in love. She has been creating art for as long as she can remember, but the feeling that pastel can create was a perfect match for her. In addition to doing her pastel paintings, Lisa is completing her Bachelors in Education at Johnson State College. Her next goal is achieving her Masters Degree in Art History. Lisa has been creating art her whole life-whether drawing, painting, pottery, paper sculpture or jewelry making. She says, "creating art is as essential as breathing". She is a member of the Monadnock Area Artists Association, The Pastel Society of New Hampshire and the Saxton's River Art Guild. Her work is currently being featured at the Big Bear's Lodge in West Dover, Vermont and at Vermont Artisan Designs Gallery 2. Lisa has been teaching fine art for Grumbacher, and jewelry making and beading for the Bead Comer Design Academy. We will discover many different types of surfaces that accept pastel, as well as have a chance to coat our own. Students will experiment with different blending techniques and different subject matter from landscape to still life. Lesson One: The pastel medium and pastel surfaces, including blending techniques and basic color theory Lesson Two: Choosing the right reference photo Lesson Three: Landscape tips and tricks Lesson Four: The Still Life Lesson Five: Coat your own! Lesson Six: Preservation and framing techniques, student critique Each session will begin with a short discussion and a demonstration, and then students will have the opportunity to put what they've learned into practice. |
