Thank you for 40+ years of Art!
The Brush and Palette Art School is now closed as Mary is retiring!!
The Brush & Palette has been in business for 40 years, the last 18 operating solely as an Art School.
We have been through many transitions in the past 35 years. At one point we had 8 teachers and averaged 6-10 classes a week, enjoying teaching over 60 students per week. All of our teachers were professionals who exhibited and sold their artwork throughout the world.. They belong to both local and national art organizations and some of them have been been published in art magazines.
With the changing times, including a very difficult situation during COVID these past 2 years, we have seen dwindling teachers and smaller interest from students. This is all part of the fun of owning a business, and although not ideal, completely expected as things evolve. Some teachers have moved on to bigger and brighter things in this very area, and I could not be more excited for them and their continued success. Some have moved out of the area to pursue other endeavors personally or professionally, and I always look forward to hearing their stories and adventures.
These past 35 years have been a whirlwind of happiness at Brush and Palette, and I owe all of it to my students, teachers and extremely supportive family. This started as a dream at 45 years old when I went back to UNH to finish my MBA, and now, at 83 I would not trade one minute of it. Art has and will always be my passion, whether it be teaching, exhibiting, or just enjoying the many amazing artists we have in the seacoast area.
And to my teachers... all of these years you helped me become a business woman who got to share her Art with hundreds of people each year. You shared in the success of Brush and Palette, and were an integral part of a small locally owned artist shop for many, many years. I could not, or would I have wanted to do this without each and every one of you. I am forever grateful for your support and thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of our family. The toughest part of being an artist, is making a living doing what you love. And I did, and it was fantastic!
So for now, come on by Centennial hall on Saturday 10/14/2023 tp say goodbye, and carry on with your art!!
