Alla Prima (one shot) Painting in Oils

Learn alla prima techniques for oil painting. Alla Prima means “at first” in Italian. In oil paintings this technique means that the final picture surface does not rely on earlier or previous layers for effect. Paintings are often done in one sitting. The effect is the important piece of this painting puzzle. The painting can be worked on again or even over-painted but the desire it to always leave the “alla prima” look to the surface. In this class you will learn how to do this. As always, I will teach many art principles as we practice making alla prima paintings.
